Who can use BacklineScout

BacklineScout is for business use by people 18 or older: productions, artists, tour and production managers, promoters, and backline or equipment rental companies.

You’re responsible for the information you give us being accurate, and for keeping it current.

Your account

Each login belongs to one person. Keep your password private and tell us at legal@backlinescout.com if you think someone else has used your account.

You’re responsible for activity under your account and for the companies you create or manage in it.

What BacklineScout does

BacklineScout is a marketplace that helps productions send rental requests to vendors and compare their quotes. We are not a party to any rental.

Vendors set their own prices and terms, and are responsible for their equipment, delivery, setup, insurance, and fulfillment. Buyers agree the rental, payment, and terms directly with the vendor they choose.

BacklineScout does not process payments, guarantee availability, or guarantee that any vendor will quote or perform.

Pricing

BacklineScout is free during the pilot. If we introduce fees, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before they apply, and you can stop using the service before then.

Vendor listings and verification

Vendor companies appear to productions only after we verify them. We decide whether to verify a company and may remove a listing or verification at any time, for example if information is inaccurate or a vendor isn’t responding to requests.

Some directory pages show publicly available information about rental companies that are not on BacklineScout, gathered from their own websites. These listings don’t mean the company has joined or can receive requests here. A company can ask us to correct or remove its listing by writing to legal@backlinescout.com.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share personal information. By using BacklineScout, you agree that we can handle your information as it describes.

Your content

Riders, requests, quotes, messages, and files you add remain yours. You give BacklineScout a limited license to store, process, and display them so the service works: for example, to show your request to the vendors you choose and their quotes to you.

Only add content you have the right to share, and don’t include information the other party doesn’t need.

Acceptable use

Don’t send spam or unrelated solicitations, create false listings or requests, scrape or copy the service or its data, try to access accounts or data that aren’t yours, interfere with how the service runs, or use it for anything unlawful.

Suspension and ending your account

You can stop using BacklineScout at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or end access if you break these terms or if it’s needed to protect other users or the service.

Disclaimers

BacklineScout is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that information from vendors or buyers is accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, BacklineScout is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data. Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $100.

We are not responsible for rentals, payments, equipment, or disputes between buyers and vendors.

Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify BacklineScout against claims arising from your content, your rentals, or your breach of these terms, to the extent the law allows.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California.

Severability

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect, and the unenforceable part is limited only as much as needed.

Entire agreement

These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and BacklineScout about the service, and replace any earlier understandings. If we don’t enforce a provision right away, we haven’t waived it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we’ll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use BacklineScout after that means you accept the updated terms.
